THE HARE, THE TORTOISE & THE INFLUENCER

“The hare, the tortoise & the influencer” is a performance inspired by Aesop’s universal fable, engraved in the imagination of everyone, children or adults. In this version, dance, narration, dialogue, poetry and music come together to tell a fable within a fable, a fast-paced story, which places the two mythical animals in a live online race, refereed by an influencer who pursues massive success at all costs.

WHAT WE WANT TO TELL

We have been inspired by “The Hare and the Tortoise” for its educational and playful character, in order to reach all audiences. The message of our version, however, differs from the original fable. We propose a viewpoint adapted to our times. The hare and the tortoise represent childhood, their innocence and the danger to which they are exposed by the improper use of social media; the influencer represents today’s youth, with its dynamics and the inevitable need to relate through social media; finally, the latter, and the unethical people who make use of them, represent the manipulative element, the “dangerous animal” and the focal point on which the fable has an impact.

ITS CREATORS

“The hare, the tortoise & the influencer” is a production of the company Larumbe Danza, based in Coslada, Madrid, with original idea, choreography and staging by its directors, Juan de Torres and Daniela Merlo. It is an unprecedented experience as it has the collaboration of the actor, theatre director and playwright, Dani Llull, responsible for the script and original music. A work of complete fusion and synchronization between dance and dramaturgy, which makes the performance a very original proposal and close to all ages and sensibilities.
